Black Growth
Initiative
Job placement & coaching
We encourage family involvement and offer programs that foster strong support networks, essential for building a foundation of trust, encouragement, and empowerment.
PROGRAM GOALS
Our job placement and coaching specialists will establish a structured, culturally sensitive job placement plan to support formerly incarcerated Black men in achieving economic independence and successful reintegration into society. This plan will address barriers to employment, build
necessary skills, and create long-term employment opportunities.
Our team of career specialists will aim to address stigma and assist those who lack work skills. We will provide vocational training and equip our participants with skills tailored to the demands of the local job market.

INTERVENTION
We will provide individual mental health services to address trauma and emotional challenges. We will offer individual counseling and therapy tailored to the unique experiences of formerly incarcerated Black men. The therapy sessions will be a minimum of six months up to a year.

We will host individual/group therapy sessions for our clients so that they can share their successes, frustrations, or challenges in seeking employment.
We will videotape role plays on how to conduct a proper job interview. This visual will help better prepare our clients for any potential challenges of interviewing and accepting feedback from trained professionals.

We will administer individualized career assessments to identify each participant’s skills, interests, and goals and create a tailored employment plan.

We will hire wellness coaches to train and teach our clients how to build resilience and become mentally tough.
We will develop a personalized career plan for each participant based on the information gathered.

STAFFING
With trained male black vocational coaches and two peer counselors, they will provide job skills training aligned with local job market needs. The team will partner with local community colleges, trade schools, and training centers to offer hands-on, experiential learning opportunities. This vocational training session will last for six months, three times a week, for eight hours daily. We will also have three black male mental health counselors to talk to the men if any concerns are brought to their attention. Therapy sessions, if warranted, will be held on an individual basis.
OUTCOMES
Our vocational coach will teach technical computer skills, HVAC, electronics, automotive,
interpersonal relationships, and behavioral skills. Additional workshops will cover
communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
We will teach time management, organizational skills, workplace etiquette, and professionalism. To ensure our clients are hirable, we will conduct mock interviews, providing participants with practice
interviews and feedback from HR professionals and mentors.
stakeholders
The stakeholders will be local employers, the local Chamber of Commerce representative, a Department of Labor representative, CBOs managers, health care professionals, and the clergy. The Chamber of Commerce rep will be our advocate in program development because they will have a better idea of what is expected in reference to up to date job marketing skills. We will facilitate our partnership with local business leaders willing to hire individuals with criminal records.
