ABOUT BLACK GROWTH INITIATIVE
The Black Growth Initiative is dedicated to empowering formerly incarcerated Black men with the support and guidance to build successful futures. Our approach combines culturally competent care, practical resources, and support to turn challenges into stories of resilience, growth, and achievement.
OUr goal
The Growth Initiative is a therapy institution that addresses and caters to the needs of Formerly Incarcerated Black men aged 20–60, focusing on individuals within their first two years post-release, as this period is critical for successful reintegration.
We focus on individuals with a history of mental/behavioral health conditions, substance use, or trauma. We realize that those with limited family support or unstable housing situations may need care to address those needs.
We are in downtown Tampa, a 6,800-square-foot office building with three floors. Our building is state-of-the-art, with big bay windows, Greco furniture, and many screen televisions. Our location is on the bus line, so we are conveniently located for those with limited transportation. We have sports channels in one section of our office and music in other areas.
On Thursdays, we have a catered BBQ dinner for the community to show our appreciation for their support. Members of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers volunteer at our campus every other Friday. Monthly, we have a football raffle to give away two football tickets to see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
All our services are confidential. The fee to attend a therapy session is reduced for clients with limited resources. We encourage you to apply if you are a formerly incarcerated Black man seeking support.
